MOUNTAIN VIEW TEACHER WINS RECOGNITION AWARD
PACT Teacher Bonnie Malouf Receives Grant from Prudential California Realty Education Foundation
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA (May 24, 2007)—The PACT School, an alternative, public K-5 school in the Mountain View-Whisman School District, announced today that kindergarten teacher Bonnie Malouf has been awarded a grant from the Prudential California Realty Education Foundation in recognition of her outstanding work and commitment to the success of the children in our community. Malouf was nominated for the award by her students and their parents earlier in the school year.
The Prudential California Realty Education Foundation was founded in 1992 to honor public school teachers who best contribute to children’s lives by building their self-esteem, encouraging their love of learning, and inspiring the broader school community of teachers and families. Malouf was recognized at a public award ceremony that honored the 2007 winners.
“The enthusiasm that [Malouf] displays when a child accomplishes something new has brought a smile of pride to the face of even the shyest child in the class,” students’ parents wrote in their nomination letter. “Our children are not afraid to try something new and do not back away from challenges.”
The nomination went on to cite specific ways in which Malouf inspired a love of learning in her students and touched the lives of their families.
“We chose PACT for our children because of the hands-on, developmental learning approach,” said Liza Levin, mother of a kindergartener in Malouf’s current class. “We have been delighted with how Bonnie exemplifies that philosophy.”
